You may chose to write a poem, epilogue or essay about Esperanza Rising
1. The poem needs to include:
· Minimum 5 stanzas, 4-5 examples of figurative language, patterns & message
· Poetry is about feelings, so imagine how a character would have felt at a particular point in the story and write from their point of view
2. The epilogue needs:
· Minimum 5 paragraphs
· To be written in the same voice as the rest of the story
· A flash forward to Esperanza’s life 15-25 years in the future
3. The essay needs:
· A clear thesis statement and strong topic sentences
· Minimum 5 paragraphs
· A connection to something outside of the story (your own life, another book, etc).
· A clear introduction and conclusion
